Math In Mumbai: 400 iPods

by venhi on December 18, 2009

Shockproof iPod Touch handsets are being custom made for kindergarten classes in Malad, a suburb of Mumbai.  3,000 students are using the 400 devices as learning tools for math and the alphabet.  Pediatrician Samir Dalwai states that more scientific studies need to be conducted of the impact of technology in the classroom to see if children indeed learn faster than the traditional way.

iphonetouch.blorge has a list of 40 iPod Touch free apps including dictionaries, translators and e-readers.  m-Learning is booming as we go into 2010.  Devices are a target for grant writers FTW as they compete for Race To The Top funding.   Once obtained,  many free or low cost apps are just a download away.
